A presentation by Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings, outlines the company’s strategy which includes not surprisingly a shift of resources into Streaming versus DVD distribution but also a push into mobile devices. How long before we can stream our Netflix queue on our phone?
Over the course of 40 slides, the presentation explains that Netflix will stay focussed on delivering TV shows and movies rather diversify into other forms of content (like news, sports etc..). It also remains committed to a consumer paid subscription model.
The company see a steadily evolution into streaming with its own estimates showing that DVD distribution will peak in 2013. Netflix streaming is available on more and more platforms like game consoles, Blu-ray players, laptops, Apple’s iPad and soon Mobiles!! With Hulu expanding to subscription, Netflix acknowledges that this could be a significant competitive threat.
